Beautiful Fall Day. A formation of geese. The magical sunset. I never noticed the river flows that direction.

One summer day, I went for a swim on this river by Chain Bridge where I encountered an old oarsman in a single. I waved him down to tell him I shared his love of rowing and to congratulate him on his smooth veteran technique.
He laughed and told me his secret – there is plenty of time to practice when your older, so focus on what’s really important now. The Potomac will always be there but your friends might not.
I caught up to my friends on the rope swing (you know the one) and watched the old guy paddle away. That was a year and 1/2 ago and I’m still rowing.

I am sitting with my beautiful and wonderful wife. We are enjoying this view of the Potomac in this great park. Truly one of the magical places in the city. What a good idea to include this book within this comfy bench. We are so grateful to be here, present, aware and together. We are wishing the arrival of our new child in August next. May she or he be healthy and happy. We are letting go of what we don’t know, our fears, our anxiety. We are living for the moment. J &B M

What a neat surprise to fin this journal tucked under this beautiful bench in this peaceful spot. We came down to the river to enjoy the sunshine and rare warmth on this winter day. There are lots of dogs running about, and people staying fit outside.. I am here without the person I love and sitting in the fresh air and sunshine. I feel – still – which is refreshing. In spaces like this, you cannot help but take a minute and realize the wonder and beauty of a world you’ve been too stressed to appreciate. So thank you bench & park & weather for a beautiful day.
