Rowing allows direct interaction with the river as rowers race, train, row along the river.  There are some 60 rowing teams.  They include high school and university teams, masters and club teams, and training programs for elite rowers aiming for world championships including the Olympics. There are four boathouses adjacent to Georgetown Waterfront Park (links at bottom of this page).  For a feel for the 4:55am enthusiasm of members of the rowing community, read the article by Garrett Faulkner, Rowing Community Races Ahead in Washington (Georgetowner 10/21/09).
